Taiwan President Lai Ching-te called on Monday for the signing of an economic partnership agreement with the EU, saying it would boost cooperation in semiconductors and that as democracies the two sides should be working together. Such an agreement would set a sound institutional basis for further cooperation in fields as semiconductors and AI.

On Monday, Judge James Donato of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ordered Google to make a series of changes to address its anticompetitive conduct. For three years starting Nov. 1, the company must allow developers to bring their own app stores to the Android mobile operating system.
